Bespoke party decorations are made to order and fully customizable for your events! If you have something in mind and can't find it in the shop, send me an email or click the "contact" button to get the conversation started! And don't worry about your vision being too out there, or too confusing. I have made LOADS of custom garlands and we don't judge here so be as original as you like! :)
You can ask for a custom shape, or a custom phrase! Following are a few pics of some of the garlands we have made:
So remember! The sky's the limit! Bring me your best ideas and let's see what we can come up with!
Have a super day!
I just love rainbows. I love seeing rainbows in the sky after a downpour and trying to take a million photos of them (although none of them seem to come out just right, ya know? Although I do love how those sunflowers seem to be staring at that rainbow) I love all the colours in the rainbow, and I love what rainbows represent.
I also really, really, really love rainbows at parties!
And since rainbows seem to be one of the more popular garlands in the shop, we've expanded our rainbow line! How exciting! (I know, I know, I don't get out much...)
We have little rainbows:
And big rainbows!
We have small rainbow dots:
And big rainbow dots!
And these aren't really rainbows, but they have clouds and hearts and I thought maybe some of you would appreciate a more subtle option....
And if you're wondering what to do with all your rainbow garlands when you're done with them at your party, here are some more suggestions!
You can use them as photo backdrops!
Or wrap up your gifts for your next party!
There are lots of ways to use up your rainbows! Let me know how you use your garlands!
Have a super day!
Over here at the Smiley Wiley house we really, really love trees. Not to mention beaches, lakes, forests, mountains… you get it. We’re outdoorsy.
We love the outdoors so much that we make lots and lots of efforts to preserve it. Which means Smiley Wileys is eco friendly! I’ve mentioned it before but it’s worth mentioning again, and again, and maybe even again, because I feel like it’s that important.
So, how are we eco friendly, you ask? Well let me tell you in bullet points because I like a reason to use bullet points…
1) All the materials for the party decorations are recycled or upcycled. Therefore, no new trees are being cut down.
2) Even the packaging materials are recycled. Your garlands will arrive wrapped around and in recycled paper. I will sometimes use plastic to wrap your package to protect it from the elements, but even that plastic is recycled. Your shipping label is even printed on recycled paper and I use a local shop to recycle and refill my ink.
3) The Smiley Wiley workshop uses very little electricity, and energy efficient lighting. (which results in low energy usage and horrific lighting for photos.)
4) Most of the parcels are delivered to the mailbox using pedal power. Specifically 11 year old boy power. The young man is head of shipping, and takes great care to ensure your parcels are delivered with very little use of fossil fuel. (And yes, the following is a photo of the girl, but the boy won't let me snap his photo, so that's all I've got.)
5) Number one is kind of a lie. The thread I use to sew the garlands is new. Brand spanking new. BUT I purchase it from a local shop that is within walking distance from my house…
6) Even the Smiley Wiley household uses eco friendly cleaning products, reusable shopping bags, and energy efficient everything. We walk or bike almost everywhere and always try to buy second hand before new. We are not just green, but cheap and thrifty too.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, we’re on our bikes on the way to the post office to drop off your parcels. Then we're going to the mountains!
See you soon!
Every year since I opened my Etsy shop I have completely missed the boat as far as Halloween and Christmas are concerned. Not this year! I finally did the “math” and got busy in August. The new garlands didn’t actually go live in the shop until September, but hey, I’m still a work in progress. :)
And since I only move in baby steps, there are only 2 spooky new garlands this season, and that is 2 more than there were last year! HA! Go, me!
So, without further ado, I’m pleased as punch to introduce you to the new festive decorations…
First up are the candy corn coloured garlands! Because, yum! Staying true to myself is so important, so I threw in book pages too.
Are you sitting down? Because there is more exciting stuff coming up… I now have the capability to cut my very own designs. Throw confetti! This is huge! So to start off, I have a little skull garland in the shop.
Now I’m feeling all festive and thinking maybe it’s time I started thinking about my Halloween costume… for next year.
If you haven't already, you should try having a photo booth at your party! It doesn't have to be something fancy or huge, they can be really simple and easy to set up!
Taking photos of kids at parties can be difficult sometimes, it's hard to grab their attention and even harder to get them to stop, say cheese and let you snap a picture. But with a dedicated spot for taking pictures kids are more than happy to flash you a cheesy smile. Add some props and it becomes a party event!
All you need for a simple, fast photo booth is a backdrop, some props and a camera! We've used sheets for backdrops (they help block out unsightly things in the background) and lots of paper garlands. You can hang your sheets from ropes, poles, sticks, clothes lines... what ever is handy! Clothes pegs are easy and always in my stash. Add props that suit your party, throw up a photo booth sign and have a friend handy to take the pics so you can keep the party rolling!
The garlands below add a fun touch to the photos without being too overpowering. These ones are hung from a clothes line with clothes pegs.
Brighter coloured garlands are super cute at a circus themed party, with some fun props that you probably already have at home. These ones were easy to hang up in the corner of a tent with a pole, a sheet and of course, plenty of clothes pegs. (Did I mention how much I love to use clothes pegs??)
You can also hang them up on a string against a plain wall. (Wait! Where are the clothes pegs?) Sometimes the garlands hang just fine, especially indoors where there is no wind.
See? Easy peasy!
Sometimes pictures don’t say a thousand words... Especially in an Etsy shop listing! Not all the details can be quickly seen or understood in 5 photos of a paper garland… Sooooo… here is a compilation of Smiley Wileys’ most frequently asked questions! Hope this helps!
How long are the garlands?
All the garlands are just over 10 feet long. They can be easily snipped to the size you like, or you can ask me to make them in whatever length you like.
How long will it take for my parcel to get to me?
This depends on where you are. My aim is to send the garlands out the day after you order them, but my shop is located in Canada and if you are located outside of Canada I highly recommend ordering your garlands at least 2 weeks before your event. Canada Post only runs on weekdays, and parcels can get held up in customs.
How big are the hearts?
The small hearts are just under an inch across at the widest part, so these are pretty small. The larger hearts are 2 inches across at the widest part.
Do you do custom orders?
YES! I love custom orders! If you want a combination of the shapes that you see, or you want your hearts sewn vertically instead of horizontally, or you want book pages mixed with music pages…. Let me know! I can probably do it for you.
Do you offer discounts?
Another YES! I love big huge orders! Hit the contact button on the etsy page to see how we can discount your order of 12 or more garlands!
Can you make my garland from my favourite book?
I really, really, really want to answer YES to this one, but…. If I don’t already have it on hand I will do my best to find the book you request, but I can’t guarantee that I will find it.
Can you add coloured paper to the garlands?
Sometimes! Since I only use book pages to make the garlands I do not stock coloured paper. If the colour you request is easily found at a local shop I can add it to your garland (we will discuss pricing ahead of time too).
How can I make my garlands last?
Garlands are finicky things, and tangle easily. Obviously, don’t use your garlands outside in the rain and wind if you want them to last forever. Take them out of their packaging carefully, and don’t unwrap them until you are ready to hang them. You can wrap them back in their original packaging so you can use them again, or, if you are finished with them, they are recyclable! And so is the packaging!
I hope that helps answer some of your questions!
Have an awesome day!
